Where can I buy CBD oil in Dublin, Ireland?

Finding a CBD oil in Dublin, Ireland is an absolute minefield and theres often a big difference between buying CBD oil from a street retailer like Holland & Barrett, Boots or an online speciality CBD store like us here at plus120. There are a ton of ‘marketing tactics’ being deployed and as an unsuspecting consumer, you could easily fall prey.

No more we say!  We are here to walk you through what to look for so you will get the best possible CBD oil for you, wherever you choose to buy it from.

How to find a good CBD oil in Dublin

Wherever you are buying your CBD oil from in Dublin, just make sure you have done your homework. There are 5 basic questions you need to have answered.

  1. Is it full-spectrum?
There are 3 main types of CBD oil, full-spectrum, broad-spectrum or isolated CBD.

To put it simply:

Full-spectrum: contains all the plant compounds including cannabinoids, terpenes and all flavonoids. CBD has been shown to work best synergistically with everything. This is known as the ‘entourage effect’.

Broad-spectrum: includes all the plant compounds but absolutely 0 THC

Isolates: is purified CBD with no other plant compounds. You could be thinking the ‘purest’ CBD is the best but things don’t work that way in CBD.

There have been several studies like this one which show that full-spectrum CBD is has the most therapeutic potential. This makes sense. It’s the closest one to nature before humans start to hack out compounds to meet our needs.
  • Current wisdom suggests that taking CBD extracts where the natural balance of cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids found in cannabis has been preserved offers the most benefits to our health

However, there is a tiny chance with full-spectrum product that you may test positive in a urine test which tests for THC.  Although it has only a trace amount (0.3% by law), if this is a concern you may want to switch to broad spectrum.

Isolated or pure CBD is personally our least favourite way to take CBD (you are missing out on all those other lovely plant compounds!) but it may be suitable for people who find they are super sensitive lots of ingredients.

  1. Is it organic?
This is a non-negotiable for us. Hemp, the plant that CBD comes from is a bio-accumulator. This means that it absorbs toxins from the soil. i.e. if the soil is not clean, it will absorb all the toxic materials from it and these toxins make its way into the CBD product that you are now putting in your body.

Always always, choose organic.

  1. Does it have clean ingredients?
There is absolutely no point (In our eyes!) of taking a CBD oil if it has unhealthy ingredients added to it, often as a “filler” ingredient or to make it taste good (e.g. peppermint or lemon taste)

You are undoing all the lovely healthy CBD effects by consuming these fake ingredients. Unless they is a really strong reason for doing this (of which I cannot think of any right now), don’t do it. Choose CBD with the least amount of ingredients as possible. Most of the products we sell have only 2 ingredients, the CBD and a healthy oil like MCT oil as its carrier.

Man up people. You do not need these any ‘natural flavours’.

  1. Does it have an up-to-date certificate of analysis?
Some companies say that have a certificates for their products but don’t publish them on their website. Hmm.

Then other companies will publish certificates but they will be out of date.

We need up-to-date certificates so we can look at what’s in the product we are buying.

  1. Does it have good customer reviews?
Customers never lie and they are always a good indication of a really good product. However, if you are reading customer reviews, please make sure you are reading reviews from trustworthy sites like TrustPilot. Would you believe there are lots of shady CBD companies who create “CBD review sites” themselves and put their own products are number 1 (man!)?
